Tom Coronel is one of the best-known Dutch racing drivers. As a funny person, he is also one of the most popular touring car drivers worldwide. He's a regular competitor in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (now WTCR) since its inauguration in 2005 but he also competes in sports car races.. In 2009, he made a debut at Dakar Rally and then returned six more times from 2015 to 2020.

Tom Coronel has extended his TCR Europe points lead ahead of the final two races of the season by taking pole at Barcelona. The Comtoyou Racing driver was fastest by 0.194 seconds over teammate Kobe Pauwels in Q2, with John Filippi and Lewis Brown giving the Belgian team a lockout of the top four positions by lapping 0.343s and 0.43s slower than Coronel respectively.

Tom Coronel became the overall champion of a full-length touring car series for the first time in his lengthy racing career in the TCR Europe finale at Barcelona.
